The most useful and used piece of open source software I’ve ever come across is the SSH client putty. It’s small and perfectly formed. It runs from a single executable meaning that you don’t have to be an administrator who can run setup programs that access the registry. I’ve used it on restricted M machines in offices and Internet cafes. It’s simply the best.
But it’s gotton better! A Czech developer called aleq has taken the putty source code and ported it to Pocket PC 2003, creating PocketPutty. It works like a dream and has a lot of promise. Keep up the good work aleq! I’m looking forward to being able to turn my handheld on its side to work in landscape mode. Then all I need is a battery powered bluetooth Happy Hacker keyboard!
